Tips to How To Find Your True Self (Part 2)
Make time for yourself
Most of us actually enjoy the constant movement in our lives, but this makes us neglect the most critical responsibility that we owe to ourselves. SELF-RETROSPECTION.

When we practice self-retrospection, we block out the noise and challenges from our surrounding and connect with our innermost self, and thus we listen to our sub-consciousness which brings about growth.
Document your progress
When we document our lives in the form of a journal we tend to track our movement and progress in life, and this makes room for adjustment when necessary.

Maintain Healthy relationships
Most times the friendships that we build either aid or mar us in our journey towards self-discovery. Bad company corrupts good manners, but good company pushes us to be the better version of ourselves.
Seek Counseling from a professional
As adults, it is often challenging to face the hard truth and ask ourselves the questions that we ought to when it comes to re-positioning ourselves. This is where counselling comes in as we need someone talk to who will tell us the harsh truth. This prompts us to make the difficult decisions that will put us back on to the road to self-discovery.

Exercise
Here is a simple practical exercise you can start with on your journey to discovering your true self.
Begin by mentally discarding the different identities which have been layered on you all through your life. Do not think of yourself as anything, but just yourself.
Write in your journal, honest and truthful answers to the questions below. Your answers should be yours alone, and independent of what anyone else thinks;
What are my visions for myself?
What are my values?
What are my goals and dreams for myself? Give a timeline; it could be 1, 5, or 10 years.
What is that thing that motivates me every day and makes me strive for more?
What am I passionate about?

This exercise is the beginning of the process of searching for the real you. If this is the first time you are doing this, you might answer some questions from one of your social identities. If you are career oriented, your answers might center around your work and business. This is fine but should not be your only answer, as you are more than that. Outside of your career, what are your other motivations in life?
As you keep discovering more of yourself, you may find out that your true self and your real life identities do not match. This is fine as it shows you are on the right track.
Next, you should live in accordance with your true self as best as you can. Doing this consistently will help you get familiar with who you really are.

Self-discovery should not be neglected. Everyone should strive towards it as it creates a road to happiness and self satisfaction of living…
To find our true self, we must quiet the noise and unpeel the layers one by one to start to rediscover who we are… This is, the greatest challenge of all.
